M.S. and Ph.D. students will take courses offered by PCS department and by other departments at Auburn University. In addition to courses offered by PCS department, students may select courses from the following fields such as accounting and finance, computer sciences, economics, education, industrial engineering, industrial design, architecture, management, psychology, sociology and communication.

COURSES (PCS Department)

PYPC 7810 - HOSPITAL PHARMACY ADMINISTRATION
Prerequisites: departmental approval. Administrative and policy-making procedures. Provides understanding of socioeconomic aspects of hospital pharmacy practice and competence in selected administrative skills.

PYPC 7820 - RESEARCH METHODS & DESIGN IN THE HEALTH SCIENCES I
Prerequisites: STAT 2150 or STAT 7040 or departmental approval. Application of scientific methods in health care.

PYPC 7830 - RESEARCH METHODS IN THE HEALTH SCIENCES II
Prerequisites: PYPC 7820.
This course consists of two parts: systematic review of the literature to develop a publishable manuscript and survey of advanced research methods in pharmacy. The goals of part 1 of this course are to familiarize the students with methods and issues related to 1) systematically reviewing research literature to identify and answer a concise research question, and 2) to follow journal-appropriate procedures in developing and submitting a manuscript based on the review. The intention is to assist students in 1) being able to use a systematic method of critically assessing potential references to answer a research question, 2) to understand the importance of developing a concise and logical manuscript, and 3) learning the importance of precisely following a required format for submission of a manuscript for publication. The goals of Part 2 of this course are to familiarize students with general concepts of advanced methods applied to research questions in pharmacy and health care.

PYPC 7840 - MEDICATION INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Health system informatics theories and methodologies. Demonstration of how information reduces uncertainty in health-care decision-making.

PYPC 7860 - THE PHARMACIST'S ROLE IN IMPROVING PATIENT ADHERE NCE
Prerequisites: PYPC 7820. Theories and methodologies involved in adherence to medication regimens.

PYPC 7900 - SPECIAL PROBLEMS IN PHARMACY CARE SYSTEMS
Prerequisites: departmental approval. Special problems.

PYPC 7950 - SEMINAR
Required of all Pharmacy Care Systems Masters students.

PYPC 7990 - RESEARCH AND THESIS
Credit hours to be arranged.

PYPC 8900 - SPECIAL PROBLEMS IN PHARMACY CARE SYSTEMS
