P. David Brackett, PharmD, BCPS is the Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Specialist fr the Auburn University Pharmaceutical Care Center (AUPCC). He provides clinical pharmacy services to the patients of the AUPCC and serves as a preceptor to pharmacy residents and fourth year student pharmacists on rotation in the site. Dave has held this position since 2009 and has previously held a variety of roles within the school dating back to 1998. Dr. Brackett has been engaged in primary care pharmacy practice since 1998 and has taught various topics in therapeutics.

Dr. Brackett received a BS in Biology from Jacksonville University in 1990 and then his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 1995. He then completed an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at Shands at the University of Florida. Since his residency, Dr. Brackett has gained extensive clinical experience in a several patient care settings. He worked two years as a Clinical Team Leader at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama and then spent the next 11 years in the Auburn and Columbus region as both faculty member and clinician practicing in Columbus Regional’s Outpatient Clinic and Family Medicine Center. Dave also started a new clinical pharmacy practice at Valley Healthcare, the community health center in Columbus. In every practice setting, Dr. Brackett has provided clinical pharmacy services for patients with chronic medical problems such as hypertension, diabetes, heart failure, anticoagulation, hyperlipidemia, asthma/COPD and wellness.

Dr. Brackett’s clinical specialty is cardiovascular disease and his teaching experience has been focused in this area. In addition, Dr. Brackett seeks to be an innovator in both delivery and financing of clinical pharmacy services and in the experiential education of student pharmacists and residents.
